LIFFE

The London International Financial Futures and Options Exchange (LIFFE) was first established in September 1982 to trade in financial futures. Ten years later it took over the London Traded Options Market.

Now owned by Paris-based Euronext, LIFFE is the world's largest financial futures market outside of Chicago.

LIFFE trades futures contracts in several government bonds, including Gilts.

It also trades FTSE index futures as well as currency futures contracts.
